Murupara

The Murupara region is 85 kilometre's, an hour's drive south of Whakatane. In this isolated and ageless corner of New Zealand, lies a small township in the heart of a region full of native bush, rivers, forest and farmland. Murupara is an ideal place to visit if you really want to get away from it all. The area is full of walking tracks, rivers and streams to fish and outdoor adventures.
Murupara is the entry point for the Whirinaki Forest Park that offers a range of walking tracks for every level of fitness and mobility. From an easy half-hour stroll to a rugged, five-day tramp, there is something for everyone.
Te Urewera National Park is also accessible from Murupara for a myriad of walking and hunting adventures.
