Concept Design
Whakatane District Library & Exhibition Centre; and Archives, Research & Storage Facility
A series of design concepts from three different architectural firms for the redevelopment of the former Briscoes building into the Whakatane District Library & Exhibition Centre and the redevelopment of the current Museum into the Research, Storage and Archive Facility was released for consultation on 14 January 2010.
The three firms where Irving Smith Jack, Jasmax and Opus international.
Following consultation the Council resolved to select the concept submitted by Irving Smith Jack. Work has commenced on the development of the concept plans into detailed design.
