District Plan
The Policy Planning team manages the development of the natural and built environment of Whakatane District, via the District Plan, under the Resource Management Act 1991 in a sustainable manner.
The Whakatane District Council’s District Plan identifies the resource management issues that are important to the District. It deals with ways of addressing these issues, acting as a planning tool to ensure Whakatane is developing the way the community wants it to.
Proposed Whakatane District Plan
This includes Variation 1 (Esplanade Reserves), Variation 2 (Whakatane, Ohope, Edgecumbe, Murupara and surrounding rural land) and Variation 5 (Crematoria).
