Community Funding Policy

Community Funding Policy

The Whakatane District Council recognises that the local community, through their diverse range of activities, make a major contribution to the social, environmental, cultural and economic wellbeing of the Whakatane District.

To better enable community groups, voluntary organisations and landowners (in the case of the preservation incentive fund) to contribute to the wellbeing of the Whakatane District the Council provides a number of support mechanisms as outlined under the policy.

The Council adopted the Community Funding Policy on the 23rd March 2009. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that funding to community organisations is provided with a focus on transparency, equity, consistency and community outcomes.
