SPARC Rural Travel Fund
The Rural Travel Fund helps rural sports and school teams with young people between five and 19 with transport costs to participate in their regular sports competitions.
This Fund is provided by SPARC and administered by the Whakatane District Council.
Who can apply
Any rural sports club or rural school team domiciled within the Whakatane District area with members between the ages of 5 and 19 can apply for a grant from the fund.
Amount available
The amount available in 2009/10 period is $14,000.
How and when to apply
Applications open on March 1st and close on the 31st March of each year. Applications must be made on the form below:

How Your Application is Assessed
The applications are considered in April each year by the Community Sports Fund Assessment Special Committee. Applicants are notified of the decision within a week of the meeting.
Decisions are Made Against the Following Criteria
- school club teams and sports club teams are defined as: 'a school club team participating in regular local sport competition in weekends, which excludes inter-school and intra-school competitions played during school time' and/or, 'a sports club team participating in organised, regular sport competition through club membership outside of school time'.
- funding will not be provided for the purpose of travel to regional or national events.

Accountability
Recipients of funding through the Rural Travel Fund are required to complete an organisational receipt form within which they must
- specify how the grant was spent and attach evidence of expenditure such as receipts, invoices or signed statements by the club's accountant
- report the benefits of having received the assistance.
