Dog Impounding
On average, the Council impounds approximately 700 dogs per year. Most dogs are impounded due to a failure by owners to keep their dogs contained or controlled.
To maintain public safety, dog control officers respond to many callouts concerning roaming and uncontrolled dogs. This may result in the dog being impounded.
All dogs must be registered and microchipped before they can be released from the pound.
