Whakatane District Council’s Building and Planning team plans and manages the development of the natural and built environment in the District in a sustainable manner. The team endeavours to ensure that the quality and quantity of the District's resources are maintained and enhanced.

Building Inspections

The Council ensures that development of the District is within the Resource Management Act 1991 and the policies of the District Plan through regulatory consents.

Development Contribution Fees

The development contribution fee recognises the additional demand being generated by your development and goes towards increasing and improving the District’s infrastructure so that it can cope with the growth.
