How your application is assessed
A sub-committee consisting of three Councillors meets in mid August to consider all applications received by the closing date and allocates the funds at that meeting. Applicants are notified of the decision within a week of that meeting.
Decisions are made against the following criteria:
-
Only charitable social organisations domiciled in the Whakatane District area and providing a service to the general public of the Whakatane District are eligible for consideration for annual financial grants. This excludes sporting and cultural organisations since applications for funding of such bodies may be made annually to the SPARC and Creative New Zealand Funding Schemes
-
Priority will be given to groups within the District that have a high volunteer base and groups that provide a community service for the residents of the District
-
Organisations which do not provide an Organisation Receipt Form for the previous year’s allocation will not be considered for funding in the following year
-
No retrospective funding applications will be considered
-
Partially completed applications will not be accepted
