Awatapu Stopbanks
Multiple flood mitigation measures have been put in place since the flooding in 2004. These include re-levelling of the stopbanks, both on the Awatapu side and on Riverside Drive side, increasing the capacity of the pump station located at 46 Awatapu Drive as well as the purchase of mobile pumps for use throughout the District where necessary.
The continuation of these works is the re-levelling of the stopbanks adjacent to Hinemoa Street and Cutler Crescent. The works are programmed to be completed by the end of 2009.
