Waste Collection Days
Kerbside rubbish and recycling happens weekly whilst greenwaste collections happen fortnightly. With the fees for this service paid via rates, the Council supplies each household with a rubbish bin (120 litre), a recycling bin and a greenwaste bin (240 litre).
Recycling Crates
It is not necessary to separate your recyclables - but they will only be collected if they are inside the crate. Additional crates are available from the Refuse Transfer Station, 60 Te Tahi Street, and from the Murupara Service Centre at a cost of $15 each.
Collection Times
Place your rubbish, recycling and greenwaste bins on the kerbside by 7:30am on your collection day.
Collection generally occurs at about the same time each week, although this can be influenced by the weather, roadworks, staff related issues or heavy collection days. Bins will be collected between the hours of 7.30am and 4.30pm. If your bin has not been collected by 4.30pm on your given day of collection please contact Customer Services on 306 0500.
There are no collections on Christmas day, New Years and Good Friday.
All other days including public holidays, there are collections as usual.
