An Annual Plan is produced in the years when the Council does not prepare a Long Term Plan (LTP).

The Long Term Plan (LTP) is the Council’s main planning document. It outlines what Council plans to do over a 10-year period, why we plan to do it, how much it will cost, and who will pay.

This section lists strategies adopted by the Whakatāne District Council. They are strategies that relate to Whakatāne District.

The Ports Operational Plan is a management plan to assist the Council as the owner and operator of port assets and facilities.

The Town Vision provides a framework by which the Council, developers and the wider community can collectively protect those special features that maintain the character of the town centre.

The Council produces a number of documents relating to the Whakatāne Airport, including the Ten Year Business Plan, a half yearly and annual report, and a draft and final statement of intent for the following year.

In 2013, Council began planning for an update of the Whakatāne River Greenway Concept Plan to provide direction and a framework for the future development of the walkway and reserves adjacent to the Whakatāne River.

This management plan is a working document, which sets out the objectives and policies for managing Sullivan Lake Reserve and describes how these will be achieved.

This plan describes how we manage our waste in Whakatāne at the moment, how the Council will manage our waste in the future, and what we can all do to make this happen.

The spatial plan will provide strategic direction based on shared outcomes that recognise spatial differences, constraints and opportunities from a four wellbeing's approach (economic, social, cultural and environmental). In doing so, the Spatial Plan will enable growth and development in the Whakatāne, Kawerau and Opotiki districts.

The District Reserve Management Plan provides the Council with a clear framework for the day to day management and decision making for all the Council owned reserves and open spaces within the District.

The Asbestos Management Plan provides for an effective strategy for the management of asbestos related hazards in Council structures.
