Public asked to be wary of downed trees

Following the recent gale-force winds in the district, a number of large trees in Warren Park were blown over or damaged. The public are advised that this section of the park will be cordoned off while contractors are working to make the park safe.

Four large poplars were completely uprooted, and a number of other trees have been damaged. The area is not currently safe for the public to enter, and children should be kept well away.

The contractors will cut the logs into manageable pieces, and these will be left onsite for the public to remove for use as firewood, once the site is safe. Please do not attempt to use power saws on any trees on Council parks or reserves - staff or contractors will undertake this work for health and safety reasons.
