Establishing a Hairdressing Salon

This guide includes information about how to gain the Certificate of Registration as Hairdresser Premises required to operate a salon, site and layout plans, and regulations relating to hairdressing salons in the Whakatāne District. Compliance with the Health (Hairdressers) Regulations 1980 is required.

Certificate of Registration

To apply for a Certificate of Registration, please download and complete the form in the Documents section of this page. After completing the application form, please return with the lodgement fee to Customer Services at the Council offices.


Transfer a Certificate of Registration as Hairdresser Premises

To transfer a Certificate of Registration if you sell your business, you’ll need to complete the application form in the Documents section of this page and return it to the Council’s Customer Services Centre with the transfer fee.
