Hā Kākano Preschool Storytime - 10:30-11am Tuesdays

Read4Plenty

Whakatāne Libraries are building a reading community - kia whakawhānui i te hapori kaipānui through a developing programme that was piloted in November 2020, called Read4Plenty.

Read4Plenty aims at engaging primary and intermediate school children through library outreach activities encouraging an enjoyment of reading and a lifelong relationship with local libraries.

We invite schools in the district to contact us if they are interested in participating.

In Te Ao Māori, the appearance of Matariki in the morning sky in mid-winter marks the Māori New Year, or Te Mātahi o te Tau. Matariki is the star cluster that is also known as Pleiades or M45.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) is an annual celebration held with the aim of inspiring New Zealanders to speak the Māori language proudly.
