As at 5pm Monday, 16 June:
We’re pleased to share some good news. The weather has been nice and dry for the last few days, so the roading team were able to complete the final road resurfacing last night, and the road markings are being completed today Monday, 16 June 2025.
Herepuru Road is now fully reopened, and the road works are officially finished.
A huge thank you to everyone in the area for your patience and support while we carried out this important mahi.

As at 3pm Thursday, 12 June:
Kia ora koutou
We would like to provide an update on the Herepuru Road project following the recent wet weather, which has unfortunately delayed the road’s reopening.
Due to high moisture levels in the new road surface, we were unable to complete the planned resurfacing today, Thursday 12 June. As a result, the final surfacing has been postponed.
The next suitable weather window, combined with contractor availability, is the evening of Sunday 15 June. If weather conditions are favourable, resurfacing work will take place between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM. This work is expected to take approximately four hours to complete. Please note that the road will be closed during this time due to the size of the resurfacing equipment and for health and safety reasons.
As this final stage is weather-dependent, fine weather is required on the day and ideally the day prior. If conditions prevent the work from proceeding on Sunday, a new date will be scheduled and an update will be provided on Monday 16 June.
To minimise disruption to the community, the road has now been reopened to traffic as of 3:00 PM, Thursday 12 June. However, please be aware that the road is currently unsealed and remains under a 30 KPH speed restriction.
We thank you for your patience while we carry out this important mahi.
