Our main offices will be closed Easter Weekend. Refuse collection will not take place on Good Friday, 29 March. Areas, where refuse is collected on Fridays, will instead have collections on Saturday, 30 March. This affects the Te Teko, Edgecumbe, Poroporo and White Pine Bush areas. Refuse will be collected on all other days as normal.

Bylaws

Bylaws are special laws created in response to the needs and concerns of our community. They evolve and change over time. Bylaws help the Council make sure the District runs smoothly, according to the priorities and wishes of the community.

Bylaws that are made under the Local Government Act 2002 are required to be reviewed five years after they are first created (section 158), and 10 years after every review date (section 159). As such, all of Council's existing bylaws are required to be reviewed every 10 years.

Examples of activities controlled under existing bylaws include dog ownership and liquor-free zones in public places.

The following bylaws were introduced in 2017/18 and replace previously listed versions (this is why only Part 1 and Part 3 are listed above).

The following bylaws were revoked as of 1 July 2018:

  • Fire Prevention in Urban Areas Bylaw
  • Food Administration Bylaw
  • Mobile Trading Bylaw
