Kerbside collection changes
There will be no kerbside collections on Thursday, 25 December 2025 (Christmas Day) or Thursday, 1 January 2026 (New Year’s Day).
If your bins are usually collected on Thursday, your collection will be moved to the following Saturday:
- Thursday 25 December → Saturday 27 December
- Thursday 1 January → Saturday 3 January
Please ensure your bins are out by 7.30am on the day of collection or the night before.
All other kerbside services will be collected as normal.
Resource Recovery Centres holiday hours
The Whakatāne Resource Recovery Centre and the Murupara Resource Recovery Centre will have the following opening hours during the Christmas and New Year period 2025/2026.

Council services availability end-of-year 2025
Our main offices will be closed from midday Wednesday, 24 December 2025 and will re-open Monday, 6 January 2026. Most Council services will either have reduced opening hours or be closed entirely during this period.
Even when our offices are closed, you can still contact us at any time on 07 306 0500, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
