Grieve Road, Hogbin Road and surrounding areas
There will be a planned water shutdown on Friday 15 May 2026, affecting parts of the Whakatāne District, so we can carry out repairs on the main water line opposite 2237B State Highway 30.
Areas and times affected
Grieve Road to Hogbin Road
Kawerau Road to the railway crossing
Charteris Lane
Park Road
Lambert Road
Friday 15 May, 11am to 12pm
Water supply will be turned off for this time period only, and properties outside these areas should not be affected.
What you need to do
If you or someone in your household relies on water for critical medical support, please make alternative arrangements while the water is off.
If you can, we also recommend filling a couple of buckets or your bath ahead of time for essential use, and having drinking water set aside.
After the water is turned back on
Mains flushing will take place once supply is restored. As a precaution, we recommend running your outside tap closest to the road for two to three minutes before turning on indoor taps. This helps clear any trapped air or sediment.
If the water looks cloudy, keep flushing until it clears. The water is safe to drink, and the cloudiness is caused by air in the pipes.
