Whakatāne District Council employed Opus International Consultants to undertake a CPTED assessment of the Awatapu Lagoon Reserve and Causeway in response to a perceived risk to health and safety from the local residents and users of the reserve causeway.
The commissioning of the report was undertaken by the Whakatāne Community Board, who will be supporting the establishment of an Awatapu Reserve care group to assist with working through the recommendations.
