Unspent funds used for oxidation pond desludging
Whakatāne District Council’s Projects and Services Committee has approved the use of $700,000 in unspent funds from the recent wastewater rising main replacement in Ōhope to fund the desludging of the Ōhope oxidation ponds.
Combined Waters Bylaw 2017 comes into force on 1 December

Wainui Te Whara works set to start
The final stage of the major flood protection works on the Wainui Te Whara Stream in Whakatāne is set to start early in November. The work will see the stream channel through the urban area widened and deepened, increasing its flood flow capacity by at least 60 percent to an estimated 32 cubic metres per second.
