Herepuru Rd will be closing tonight at 8:00pm due to the Orange Heavy Rain Warning, until further notice.
Road will be monitored during Wednesday.
Update as at 26 March 2026:
Road now closed from midday 26 March, until further notice, due to the weather event.
MetService has issued an Orange Heavy Rain Warning for the Bay of Plenty west of Whakatāne, with a significant amount of rain forecast and a high chance the warning could be upgraded. As a precaution and for the safety of road users, Herepuru Road will close at 12 noon on Thursday 26 March. The road will reopen once it is safe to do so.
The Council understands that access restrictions can be frustrating, particularly for those who rely on the road for rural and farming access. Safety remains the priority during severe weather events. Road users are asked to avoid unnecessary travel, plan ahead for access restrictions, and be prepared to self-evacuate if conditions worsen. Updates will be shared via email, the Manawahe District Community Facebook page, the Council’s Facebook page, and this website.
