The Whakatāne Library has some magical things planned for these school holidays, with a packed programme of creative, tech, and hands-on activities for tamariki of all ages.
Some of the holiday activities are so popular they fill up fast, so bookings are essential for some of the events.
VR Taster Sessions
Tuesday, 7 April | 10.30am to 2.30pm
Book in for a taster session with VR headsets. Have a go at one of three games available.
Strictly 10+ years.
Magical Creature Design Studio
Thursday, 9 April | 10.30am - 12.30pm and Thursday, 16 April | 10.30am - 11.30am
Children dream up their own magical creature, anything from a shy marshmallow dragon to a mischievous cloud fox.
Participants will create their magical creature from clay and build a personality for their creature.
Held over two sessions, the first session will include clay sculpting and the second session will include painting.
Ages 8–12 years.
Scratch coding: Finding the Magic Jewel
Tuesday, 14 April 1.30pm to 3pm
Create a ‘Find the Magic Jewel’ game with Scratch.
Each participant will create their own game by following along with the group instruction.
