Changes coming to Kōpeopeo Service Lane

Kōpeopeo Service Lane (between James Street and Kōpe Super Liquor), is currently undergoing significant upgrades and layout changes.

This work includes channel drain works, re-sealing, line marking and parking adjustments and a change to the current layout which will see the Kōpe Super Liquor end changed to exit only.

The service lane is currently coned off to a one-way operation from the James Street entrance to allow works to be completely safely. This layout change will soon be permanently installed, and entry will no longer be permitted from the King Street end.

With regard to the permanent layout change, the boundary line of the existing service lane at the Kōpe Super Liquor end currently encroaches into privately owned neighbouring land. Due to an upcoming development in the area, Council is required to reposition the service lane on to Council-owned land. This means there is no longer sufficient room for a two-way entry / exit at this point. Please note, the James Street end of the Kōpeopeo Service Lane will remain both an entry and exit. Please see image below for more information.

This work will be completed by the end of January 2024, weather dependant. Business access will remain open via the service lane with provisions in place for delivery vehicles during this time.
