Summer Students

Calling all tertiary students! Are you looking for an opportunity to get real experience to support your studies? What if you could do that while getting well paid and making new friends in New Zealand's sunniest spot?

Whakatāne District Council is looking for willing tertiary students who can help develop and deliver on a range of projects across the district. Opportunities are available in a variety of our teams including ICT Services, Engineering, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Building, Health & Safety, HR and at the Visitor Information Centre and the Holiday Park. Summer student projects run from November 2020 to February 2021.

We’ll provide the support and training; you’ll provide the skills. We’re looking for students with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and a bucket of initiative. You’ll have a good sense of humour and the ability to get in there with a smile to help get the job done. Working as part of our professional team you’ll need to be confident and well-presented, and able to communicate well with colleagues and members of our communities.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact a member of our People & Capability team on 07 306 0500, or apply now by sending your CV and cover letter outlining your skills and area of study, and which team you would be interested in supporting.
Please email all applications to peopleandcapability@whakatane.govt.nz by 16th October 2020.
