As part of the culvert underpass works currently underway on Te Rahu Road, Council contractor Draintech will be renewing the water-main at this location. All properties connected to the Council water supply on Te Rahu Road will be affected and will experience supply disruption as connections to the new water-main take place.

Whakatāne District Council will be closing Te Rahu Road to traffic while work to install a stock underpass is undertaken.

The Whakatāne District Council advises that the water supply to Te Teko Road, Powell Road and Okaahu Road will be shut down between 9:00am and 1:00pm on Thursday, 21 December. The shutdown will allow water line installation work required for the building of emergency accommodation for flood-affected Edgecumbe residents to proceed.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience this service interruption may cause. If water supply is critical to any consumers in the affected area, for health or other reasons, please contact the Council’s customer services group on 306 0500.

An area of the Riverslea Mall carpark which was used as a refuse transfer station during the most intensive period of the town’s flood clean-up work is to be resealed overnight on Thursday, 7 December.
