2014-15 highlights

Did you know in the 2014/2015 year...

  • 105,000 people visited the Whakatāne Aquatic Centre. That's about 288 people a day!
  • We produced on average 18,020 cubic metres of water a day.
  • We upgraded Rūātoki's water supply to provide safer water to more people.
  • We promoted the District to increase visitor numbers.
  • We've helped secure events that will bring over $3,500,000 to the local economy.
  • We took care of your waste. That's in total:
    • 4096 tonnes recycling
    • 10,012 tonnes rubbish
    • 4411 tonnes greenwaste
  • That's per household:
    • 296 kg recycling
    • 724 kg rubbish
    • 319 kg greenwaste
  • We maintained:
    • 172 bridges
    • 900 km of roads
    • 3169 streetlights
    • 6341 road signs
  • We consented $56 million worth of building development.
  • Air New Zealand left us in April 2015... we've secured Air Chathams and Sunair for local air service.
  • You registered 6028 dogs with us.
  • We were award winners at the 2014 Horizon Business Excellence Awards... and we have the top-ranked Council website in NZ!
