Hillcrest Cemetery and Murupara Cemetery both have dedicated areas where ex-service personnel with war or operational service can be buried.

Eligibility for burial in an RSA area

Before a burial in an RSA area can take place we need to confirm that the person is eligible. To do this, the family must provide a copy of the service information from Veterans' Affairs New Zealand or a statement of service from the New Zealand Defence Force or relevant authority.

Memorials and headstones in RSA areas

There is a set style for memorials in the RSA areas, so personal messages or photographs cannot be accommodated.

RSA memorial plaques are arranged directly through Veterans' Affairs New Zealand.
