2017 By-Election: Tāneatua Community Board

As a result of there being insufficient candidates at the 2016 triennial elections, a by-election was required to be held for one vacancy for the Tāneatua Community Board on Friday, 17 February 2017.

The by-election was conducted by postal vote under the provisions of the Local Electoral Act 2001 and the Local Electoral Regulations 2001 and was undertaken by Independent Election Services Ltd, under contract to the Whakatāne District Council.


Results

Hohepa McLean has been elected as the new member for the Tāneatua Community Board, following a by-election which concluded at midday 17 February 2017.

Electoral Roll

Those eligible to vote at the by-election are all resident and non-resident ratepayer electors in the Tāneatua Community Board area whose names appear on the electoral roll when it closes.

The preliminary electoral roll was available for public inspection from Thursday, 24 November 2016 to Thursday, 22 December 2016 at the above Council location.

Voting Period

Voting documents were posted to all eligible electors from Thursday, 26 January 2017.

The three-week voting period was Thursday, 26 January 2017 to noon Friday, 17 February 2017.
