Picture showing Part of the first blockage.Update 15 January 4 pm: Work completed
Work at the Hinemoa Street sewer pump station continued today and has now been completed. A second large blockage that was discovered was proving difficult to remove and removing it took longer than expected. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Update 13 January 4 pm: More work needed to clear the blockage.
Clearing the blockage has led to the discovery of a second mass of waste that needs to be removed, so this project will extend into tomorrow (Thursday, 14 January) now. It’s critical that this work is completed so the sewer pump station can function efficiently. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Urgent work to unblock the sewer pump station on the corner of Hinemoa Street and Victoria Ave takes place this Wednesday, 13 January and may cause a bit of a stink.

People are advised to avoid this area as much as possible on the day. If you live in the vicinity keep your windows shut and stay indoors if you can. Contractors hope to complete the work by 2 pm.

It's a reminder to only flush the 3 P’s - pee, poo and [toilet] paper down your toilet. Don’t flush wet wipes or pour fat, grease and oil down your sink.
