Parking Restrictions Amended

Whakatāne District Council maintains a register of all parking restrictions, prohibitions, and limitations. There has been several parking improvements and demands identified and introduced throughout the District, primarily to effectively manage traffic flow, enhance safety and provide equitable access to parking for the Public. The lists of the amended parking register is outlined below and now enforceable following the approval from Council on it meeting last 13 April 2023.

Amendments

a.  Inclusion of one disabled car park on Harbour Road Library
b.  Inclusion of four disabled car parks on Port Ōhope Wharf Parking area
c.  Inclusion of one disabled car park on Lisa Carrington Lane
d.  Inclusion of new parking prohibition on south side of West End Road
e.  Inclusion of new parking prohibition on Domain Road infront of McDonalds Store
f.  Inclusion of new parking prohibition infront of 75 Domain Road
g.  Inclusion of changing the references of all parking prohibitions and disabled car parks on Whakatāne Aquatic Centre from Short Street to Gwenda Reugg Way
h.  Inclusion of new parking prohibition infront of 104 Hillcrest Road
i.  Inclusion of one Drop Off Zone on James Street School 
j.  Inclusion of two disabled car parks on Kakahoroa Drive Car Park
k.  Inclusion of two Drop Off Zones on King Street by St. Joseph’s Catholic School
l.  Inclusion of new parking prohibitions on Merritt Street
m.  Inclusion of new parking prohibitions and angle parking at Paroa Road School
n.  Inclusion of new parking prohibitions on Phoenix Drive
o.  Inclusion of new parking prohibitions on Seaview Road
p.  Inclusion of new parking prohibition and twenty four restricted P120 car parks on Simpkins Street
q.  Inclusion of new two restricted P180 car parks on Spence Lane
r.  Inclusion of new parking prohibitions on Stewart Street Hospital area
s.  Inclusion of new parking prohibitions on Waiewe Street
