Water shutdown - central Whakatāne

Whakatāne District Council wishes to inform residents and businesses of a planned water shutdown for some central Whakatāne properties.

Some residential properties on: Pohutu Street, Bracken Street, McGarvey Road, Peace Street, Barry Avenue and Beach Street
When: Tuesday 20 February, 2024
TIme: 9am to 4.30pm
Specific properties impacted:

  • Pohutu Street and Bracken Street:
    All properties between McAlister Street and McGarvey Road
  • McGarvey Road:
    Odd-numbered properties from #15 to #49
    Even-numbered properties from #2 to #8, and #16 to #20
  • Peace Street 
    Specific property #3/44
  • Barry Avenue:
    Even-numbered properties from #2 to #44
    Specific properties #35, #37, #39, and #41
  • Beach Street:
    Specific property #33

Affected businesses: The Corner Kitchen, Beaver Kitchen Showhome, Beacon Printing, Clint Boon Automotive and Whakatāne Holiday Park
Date:Tuesday, 20 February, 2024  
Time: 9am to 12pm for businesses in Pohutu Street and 9am to 1pm for the Whakatāne Holiday Park


Some residential properties on: Beach Street and McAlister Street
When: Thursday 22 February, 2024
Time: 9am to 3pm
Specific properties impacted:

  • Beach Street:
    Odd-numbered properties from #3 to #31
  • McAlister Street:
    Even-numbered properties from #4 to #12
    Odd-numbered properties #9 to #13 (including Mitre 10 and the toilets near the skate park)

These works are to allow connection work to be carried out as part of the water mains and connections renewal projects at McGarvey Road and Beach Street.
