Compliance Schedule Amendment Programme 2023

A recent review of our older Compliance Schedules, those issued before 2013, has revealed that some of the changes required under the Building Amendment Act 2012 weren't made as well as they should have.

It is important that information relating to public buildings in our district is correct and that public buildings can be used safely by everyone.

The programme

In early 2023 we kicked off a project to review every active Compliance Schedule and make any necessary changes.

During this process we're also taking the opportunity to lift the quality of our Compliance Schedules and ensure, where possible, that site specific information is included.

Part of this process could include a site visit or two and, where possible, we'll let the building owner or tenant know before we arrive.

The process

  • We'll give you a heads up when we send you your annual Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) reminder
  • The review is then triggered when we receive your annual Building Warrant of Fitness
  • We will review all the information we hold relating to the current Compliance Schedule
  • If we need to, we'll undertake a site visit
  • We'll draft an amended Compliance Schedule and send a copy through to the building owner and their Independent Qualified Person (IQP). Providing a draft before finalising the amended schedule will provide an opportunity for discussion and clarification of any changes.
  • The amended Compliance Schedule will be issued. We’ll email an electronic copy to the building owner and IQP.  If you have any trouble with the size of the document, feel free to get in touch.

Any changes that affect the inspection or maintenance regime of a specified system will be effective from the date of the amended Schedule but we'll take a pragmatic approach with your IQP while transitioning from the existing schedule to the new.
