A new water main has been laid in the Western Drain Road area corner Awakeri Road by Council’s contractor, Ōpōtiki Drainlayers. To enable the connection works to the existing Awakeri Road water main, the contractor will be isolating the water supply in the area between the hours above.
The Whakatāne District Council’s Transportation group advises that hotmix road resurfacing work will temporarily affect access at a number of locations in the Whakatāne CBD area from the middle of November.
All the timber around the outside of Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi - Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre will be washed and re-stained. The work will start on Sunday, 28 October and will go through to Monday and possibly Tuesday. Whakatāne District Council will be closing a section of Boon Street to traffic for the upgrade of a pedestrian crossing. The upgrade is expected to take 7-10 days and detours through Richardson St and Shapley Place will be in place.
